A few clicks later, that content is a part of your original work, never realizing that you have just exposed yourself to the possibility you could be sued for copyright infringement.

According to business attorney Chris McNeill, any original image, writing or recording that has been saved as a file is protected by copyright law. Which means that if you don’t think twice about using someone else’s work off the web without their consent, anything you create and post online could just as easily be plagiarized by someone else.

In his talk, “You’re Online and In Trouble – and Don’t Even Know It,” Chris will share with your members:

How virtually all content published online is covered by copyright laws, just as if it were published offline

How they can legally reproduce content from other websites

How they can use Google to find if someone is using their own content without their permission and what they can do about it
